Students who are interested in studying in the U.S. may want to consider attending a recruiting event in their home country. Many American universities are sending officials and school representatives to countries across the world in order to bring more international learners to the U.S.

For example, Lycoming College in Pennsylvania recently took part in the fifth annual VietAbroader Study Abroad Conference held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, NorthcentralPA.com reports.

Ngan Le, Duong Thuy Pham and Nhi Ha Ngo are Vietnamese students who attend Lycoming College and have had such a rewarding experience that they volunteered to act as ambassadors for the school. Ly Phuong Le, an incoming student, was the program co-manager for the conference. She recruited speakers and arranged programs for the event.

"My first year at college was so wonderful, Lycoming is a big and lovely family. I love how people at [here] treat international students. It made me feel like I'm home," Ngan Le told the news source.

More than 1,200 students attended the event, which represented 60 colleges. Publicity reached 15 newspapers and four television stations.

The international student population has grown more than 7.7 percent over the past year and represents a 3.7 percent of the total student population, according to data from the Institute of International Education.ADNFCR-3053-ID-19912041-ADNFCR
