There are plenty of options open for those who are interested in a study abroad school program. You just have to know where to search.
Universities
Many universities offer study abroad programs aimed at their students, but are also open to everyone. Just go to any college's Web site and search for study abroad. Most programs will have an application that you must fill out. Get started early so that you don't miss the deadlines. There may also be an application fee.
Check out Michigan State University's Study Abroad page for examples of some of the programs available.
Independent organizations
There are plenty of organizations out there whose purpose is to encourage students to study abroad.
Many nations have institutions set up that will help you find a place to study or intern. For instance, if you were thinking about studying in Germany, you might want to look for help from the German Academic Exchange Service (known as DAAD), which provides information about all sorts of degree programs and universities in Germany and also offers some study scholarships.
Another tremendous resource if you are considering study abroad is the Council on International Educational Exchange. The council provides resources for finding study abroad and exchange programs, and can also help you find a great deal on airfare and other forms of transportation. The council's members include hundreds of well-respected universities.
